Development of for a 4-storey multi-residential building
containing 66 No. extra care apartments, and a 3-storey building containing 12 No. supported housing apartments to
cater for people with learning difficulties. The development
includes communal facilities and office space for on-site
administrative and care staff. The apartments are a mixture
of 1-bed and 2-bed accommodation intended as sheltered
housing either for sale on a shared ownership basis or for
rent through the stakeholder organisations.
Communal heating and domestic hot water is provided to
both buildings from the central plantroom within the larger
building. A comprehensive building management system
[BMS] has been designed to provide control, monitoring and
metering of heating, domestic water and electricity across
the site.
A strong emphasis has was placed on the use of assistive technology, and a desire to enable digital inclusion through installed systems. The latest IP based call systems, from Tunstall, have been employed across the site with additional provisions for future installation of home automation and wireless technologies in apartments designated for residents with special needs.
